Understanding Wireless Service

RootMetrics is the leading provider of wireless network performance information. Their service is indispensable in helping carriers and others understand the highly competitive and dynamic landscape of mobile voice and data service.

The RootMetrics team wanted to ensure that their customers could easily understand and work with the complex, often nuanced insights their service provides. My team at UXanimal brought dramatic usability improvements to this tool. We reworked and simplified the information architecture and navigation to be more in line with the way people think about and use this data. We also developed a library of patterns and styles to clearly and consistently visualize complex, multidimensional data.

Creating a usable wayfinding and navigation structure can be challenging when the number of data sets, views and states stretches into the hundreds. My team designed a scalable and consistent UI framework that keeps users oriented and focused on the insights, not the software.

Even the most important data is of little use if it can’t be easily seen. RootMetrics provides a dizzying array of reports and views, so we developed a library of crisp, elegant visualizations that communicate with extreme clarity, particularly emphasizing important anomalies and opportunities.
