From Objects to Heirlooms

Entrepreneur and cofounder of Makerbot, Bre Pettis, started Bre & Co. to create beautiful objects designed to become expressions of appreciation and connection. Since gifts are most meaningful when they’re imbued with a heartfelt story, Bre wanted this site to actively help people create these stories. He asked my team at UXanimal to design a carefully orchestrated set of workflows, interactions and visuals to gracefully support people through the sometimes awkward process of expressing appreciation and gratitude for one another.

Naturally, most web shops make sales priority number one. Bre & Co. deliberately took a different approach, focusing first on the significance of important relationships and trusting that principle to drive sales and enable the business to flourish.

All of Bre & Co’s objects come with a rich story of their thoughtful design and the groundbreaking techniques used to make them. Despite the fact that electronic artifacts are inherently more transitory than physical ones, the site successfully embodies the richness and enduring quality that Bre & Co. stands for.
